Displaying Photos

I like the corkboard idea on a wall that we can use to post fun pics from holidays or a shot of out of town guests....it should be in a fun place such as the kitchen or even the sewing room? We should get a polaroid camera so we can take pics of guests on the spot and write the date etc...I've seen other people do this and it is such a fun idea!

The Stairwell

I think this is a fun way to display family photos and utilize the space on the stairs.

Color Swatches

I was finally able to make it to the Benjamin Moore store here (they have banker's hours!) and picked up a ton of swatches. We just need to sit down now and make the final selects...especially for the sewing room + living room. Bridget - your choices were great and I naturally chose many of them without looking at the list first! So we are on the same page. Above is the Domino shot that inspired the gray slate color choice.

Pillows

I really love these pillows made from old feed + grain bags. This trend seems to be popping up in a few different places. Not sure where they would work best but I want them all! The top two are from an antiques store in New Hampshire called Red Chair. The bottom four are made by a woman in North Carolina. She has a shop called SOWN on Etsy.

Couches

Here are some possible couch options. Their shapes are a mix of traditional and modern, which would work well in the house. The neutral, light colored ones would look great in the living room against the slate walls. I really like that they would contrast some of the older couches + chairs that we are re-upholstering.

The smaller couches or the chaise could be perfect in the office or a large bedroom. We could add color + pattern through pillows (as in the photo Mary posted earlier). They look comfy too!

The couches that are labeled are by Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and the others are by Pottery Barn (besides the 3 inspiration photos at the top which are unkown).

The Kitchen

Okay, so I know we want to keep things light, especially in the kitchen with all of the sunlight that pours in through the side door + back window, but I can't resist posting this photo. It is Ruthie Sommers kitchen and it was featured in the first ever issue of Domino. It inspired me to paint my kitchen door in BTV turquoise. I love the navy, white, + turquoise palette. You never know, this could work if we keep counters + cabinets bright white.

Bathroom Ideas

These bathrooms remind me of Toadie's as they are so open and huge...like small rooms, really! We have so much space to work with; it's unbelievable. The bathrooms are made for a fam with 4 daughters....

I like the idea of keeping them light and airy while maximizing the windows. I love the mix of the old fashioned claw foot tubs with a bright white color palette and natural elements thrown in....sea grass rug, woven basket for towels, etc.  What do you think?

Mirrors

Here are some ideas for mirrors that could be used in a bathroom or bedroom...

This cut twig mirror is from West Elm.

There are similar tin mirrors at Bennington Potters in Burlington... Bridget had the idea of using one of these in a bathroom. They are salvaged from tin roofs of buildings that are about to be torn down.

I like the mix of mismatched vintage mirrors if we keep everything else pretty clean + simple.
This handcut bone mirror is from Anthropologie.

WORK IN PROGRESS

This is where we can share our progress along the way....

Living room ideas

I like this white oversize couch with the large ottomon - and the frames on the mantle....also the chandelier is a nice touch - this i a good eclectic style room.

Tile

I really love this white subway tile for a backsplash in the kitchen and/or tile in the bathroom. It fits with the look of the house.

The Attic

This photo is of a bathroom, but it reminds me of the unfinished 3rd floor space with the exposed brick, wood slat floors, etc. I love how natural it is. Not too much needs to be done to a space that has such great elements.

Fireplace

I absolutely LOVE the look of wooden logs piled high in a fireplace. Can you imagine the slate walls, the white fireplace, and then the warm color of the wood? I think it would be a great solution for a non-working fireplace. What do you think?

The Living Room

We have all been throwing around the idea of a grayish blue (slate?) living room with bright white trim and a bright white fireplace....so elegant and modern all at once! My favorite version of this color is in the Domino Mag that has Amanda Peet on the cover...just need to scan that photo in. The grays above are inspiring as well and could be great options for the living/dining rooms.

Yellow Bedroom

Annie Wenzel brought over a Vera Bradley magazine that featured a room with yellow and white striped wallpaper (I still need to track down a copy...the website did not have any photos). Grace and Mary thought it would be cool to have a bright yellow and white room...this could definitely be fun! The color scheme would really brighten up one of the rooms at the back of the house. Attached are some yellow + white photos I found for inspiration.
